The Campaigns & Advocacy Lead for Companion Animals oversees the marketing and promotion of advocacy campaigns aimed at promoting the well-being of companion animals with a deep focus on ending the dog meat trade, animal cruelty, and dog/cat population control.
Job Responsibilities:
Campaign Strategy Development:
- Develop design and implement strategic campaigns to promote the welfare of companion animals and the organization’s end the dog meat trade campaign
- Collaborate with internal teams (Social Media, Communications, Rescue Center, Clinic) to create impactful and targeted campaigns.
- Identify key issues affecting companion animals (e.g., end the dog meat trade, adoption, health care, cruelty prevention) and develop campaigns around these areas.
Project Management:
- Lead and manage multiple campaigns simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Oversee campaign timelines, resource allocation, and performance tracking.
- Run and implement events, programs, and activities
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work with external stakeholders like animal shelters, veterinarians, influencers, and other identified animal welfare organizations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners both government and private entities to amplify campaign reach and impact.
Advocacy and Outreach:
- Develop outreach programs to educate the public on responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and adoption.
- Coordinate with social media teams to raise awareness and engage supporters.
- Develop and create materials for social media promotions
- Develop and create press materials and statements, press releases on various issues affecting the campaign
Data and Analytics:
- Analyze the performance of campaigns and make data-driven decisions to improve effectiveness.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement, donations, awareness, and adoption rates.
Content Creation and Management:
- Oversee content development (e.g., videos, blog posts, graphics) related to companion animal welfare and campaigns.
- Ensure messaging is consistent, compelling, and aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
Fundraising and Donations:
- Develop fundraising strategies as part of the campaigns to secure resources for animal welfare initiatives in partnership and collaboration with the other internal core teams
- Engage donors and sponsors through specific campaign-driven appeals.
Public Relations and Media Outreach:
- Represent the organization in media interviews, press conferences, and speaking engagements.
- Cultivate relationships with journalists to secure media coverage for campaigns.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of campaign specialists, marketers, and volunteers.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure campaigns align with the organization’s broader objectives.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Experience:
- Previous experience in campaign management, marketing, or advocacy is a plus
- Proven track record of successfully leading campaigns and achieving desired outcomes.
- Experience in non-profit or charity sectors preferred
- Experience with content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and CRM platforms.
- Experience with digital marketing, including social media & content, email campaigns, and online fundraising.
Skills:
- Excellent in written and verbal communication
- Data analysis and performance tracking skills.
- Familiarity with companion animal issues, including adoption, health, and animal cruelty prevention.
- Passion for animal welfare and advocacy
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
Work Environment:
- Typically hybrid, may require fieldwork (e.g., visiting shelters, attending events).
- Flexible work arrangements may be available depending on the organization
- Can work long hours, especially during on-site events
