A barista is a professional who specializes in preparing and serving coffee drinks, often working in coffee shops or cafés. The role goes beyond simply making coffee; it involves creating a welcoming atmosphere, delivering excellent customer service, and understanding coffee in detail. Here’s a detailed job description for a barista:

Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, and teas.
Rotate between different work areas as needed, including but not limited to:
Front Counter: Taking customer orders, handling payments, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
Barista Station: Preparing drinks, managing supplies, and keeping the bar area clean.
Seating Area: Maintaining cleanliness, ensuring customer comfort, and restocking supplies.
Back of House: Supporting inventory management, preparing food items, and assisting with cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Take customer orders and process payments efficiently and accurately.
Ensure a clean and organized workstation and dining area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Maintain inventory of coffee supplies and inform management when stock needs replenishing.
Provide excellent customer service, including answering questions about menu items and making recommendations.
Operate coffee-making equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, and brewers.
Assist in opening and closing the café, following standard procedures.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the café, including regularly cleaning coffee machines and equipment.
Follow recipes and presentation standards for all drinks and food items.
Actively listen to customer feedback and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
Uphold company standards in product quality, presentation, and service.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience as a barista or in the food service industry is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Basic knowledge of food safety practices.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions
Enthusiastic about coffee and willing to learn new brewing techniques.
Reliable and punctual.
