Position Summary

The Chemical Laboratory Analyst is responsible for the conduct of laboratory and field testing, analysis, and other processes related to plant chemistry following applicable policies, standard procedures, laws and regulations to support the safe, reliable and compliant operations of the plant. The position is also responsible for contributing assistance and providing recommendations in the smooth operations of the water and wastewater treatment plants.

Roles and Responsibilities

Sampling and Analysis

• Conducts sample testing and analysis of water and water effluent, coal receipts and feed, light fuel oil and other materials such as sand and limestone following established
• procedures and techniques in determination of chemical and/or physical qualities to set standards.
• Records, prepares and submits reports on completed water,
• coal and auxiliary material testing and analysis, ensuring accuracy of data and information.
• Reviews and evaluates laboratory methods and procedures and recommends operating guidelines to improve production quality and compliance.

Operations Monitoring and Control

• Conducts monitoring of chemical quality of the plant’s operating systems and prepares reports on results and recommendations, for information and appropriate action.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

Performs routine inspection, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of analytical laboratory equipment to ensure the quality of laboratory work.

Notifies Supervisor of any problems observed and encountered on the equipment and/or instrumentation performance if it cannot be resolved by the incumbent of appropriate action.

Prepares and submits reports on laboratory instrumentation and equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting, for reference and control.

Systems

Complies with the laboratory management system for efficient and smooth operation of the laboratory.

Safety, Health, Environment, and Housekeeping

• Complies with occupational safety and health as well as environmental rules and regulations to prevent accidents, illness, and adverse effects on the environment.
• Complies with housekeeping policies within his/her area of responsibility during assigned shift to maintain standards of cleanliness and orderliness of plant equipment and premises.
• Disposes used chemical properly to avoid contamination.
• Informs Supervisor when chemical leaks occur for appropriate action in the laboratory.

Others

• Conforms to the company’s Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Asset Management, Energy Management, Business Continuity Management System and Information Security Management Systems policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001,ISO 55001, ISO 50001, and ISO 22301 Standards.
• Reports Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety events/incidents or potential events, or other security risks to the organization/ committees-in-charge.
• Protects information assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction, or interference in accordance with ISMS policies
• Maintains availability, confidentiality, and integrity of documents
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the TL.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' in power plant generation plant chemistry program or 4 years experience as an analyst in industrial setting
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry/Chemical engineering
• Must be a Licensed Chemist or Licensed Chemical Technician
• Must be willing to pursue a 6-month project-based contract
