About You

Are you passionate about social impact and skilled at creating visuals and messaging that drive participation, spark meaningful discussions, and amplify engagement across multiple social media platforms? Does the rapid evolution of the social media landscape excite and inspire you?

Join our Special Coverage team as an Associate Social Media Strategist, where you’ll lead the partnerships social media approach to ensure our high-profile events, content series, and partnerships reach the right audiences. This role is pivotal in shaping how Devex and its partners maximize their impact in advancing global development conversations and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


Responsibilities Social Media Strategist

  • Lead the integrated social media strategy and content creation for partnerships across Devex’s platforms including LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, X, and others
  • Develop strategic recommendations and guidance to amplify partnership campaigns across third-party channels, such as partners, executives, stakeholders, influencers
  • Manage paid amplification budgets to maximize the reach and effectiveness of campaigns, adapting strategies based on performance data
  • Ensure alignment across platforms and teams, working closely with the earned media team to maintain consistency in tone, voice, and branding
  • Stay apprised and ahead of the evolving social media landscape, how policies and best practices are shifting, to inform partnership approach


Social Media Content Manager

  • Identify newsworthy moments, via social listening, to craft impactful social media posts that drive engagement and aligns with Devex’s editorial-first approach
  • Determine the right social media channel mix per partner
  • Create, manage, and implement a paid strategic approach for each partnership campaign; monitor impact and refine the approach to garner the best results
  • Serve as the content manager for partnerships to engage in campaign posts from third parties to ensure content amplification and reach to target audiences
  • Assess and monitor content reach, and work with the team to modify the approach to ensure the greatest reach
  • Manager the overall partnerships social media calendar
  • Develop engaging visuals, videos, and infographics using tools like Figma, Canva and Adobe Suite, and when needed manage freelancers for more complex creative needs, such as fully produced videos


Reporting & Monitoring

  • Utilize social listening tools to monitor online conversations, and refine partnerships social media approach to engage in relevant and real-time conversations
  • Develop performance reports, working closely with colleagues across the organization to determine what metrics are needed to showcase the impact of partnerships
  • Take an entrepreneurial approach to reporting, keeping an eye on evolving trends and the best way to highlight Devex’s impact for partners


Project & Budget Management

  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Oversee robust social media and marketing budgets, monitoring results and adjusting strategies to optimize ROI


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in digital marketing and/or content strategy, including social media and paid social media strategy
  • Proven ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong proficiency in social media platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, Bluesky)
  • Knowledge of SEO and SEM best practices
  • Experience managing paid social media campaigns
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools to track campaign performance
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, Figma, video editing, and other creator platforms to develop visual social media and content graphics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse global teams and stakeholders in a remote role
  • Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, international development or a related field
  • Ability to work in a time zone that overlaps with our European, African and North American based colleagues and partners

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

  • Understanding of and interest in global development issues
  • Advanced skills in content creation and editing
  • Strong editorial judgment to identify key messaging and narratives
  • Experience with project management tools like Monday.com, Slack, Google, etc.
