Fresh off a pre‑seed raise, we are shipping a lean, high‑impact B2C product that tailors résumés, automates applications, and guides networking—all in one place. We operate as a remote‑first startup headquartered in Los Angeles, with a fast‑growing engineering hub in the Philippines.

We are looking for a hands‑on Backend Software Engineer/CTO to join our founding product team. You will own everything server‑side: architecting APIs, orchestrating AI model calls, and ensuring our data and event pipelines are reliable and secure. This is a green‑field opportunity to shape the core of a product that will touch thousands of users within months.

What You’ll Do

• Design & build REST/GraphQL APIs and micro‑services in TypeScript/Node.js (or Python) that power our web app and upcoming mobile clients.
• Integrate third‑party and in‑house AI services (OpenAI, vector stores, RAG pipelines) with an eye on latency, cost, and scalability.
• Model & manage data in PostgreSQL/Supabase, ensuring schema quality, migrations, and observability.
• Automate deployments with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Cloud Run/GKE), IaC (Terraform), and containerization best practices.
• Implement security & compliance controls (OAuth, rate‑limiting, data encryption, GDPR/CCPA readiness).
• Collaborate closely with full‑stack engineers, product design, and growth to ship experiments rapidly and iterate based on user feedback.
• Lay foundations for future MLOps: model versioning, feature stores, and monitoring.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–6 + years’ professional experience building and operating scalable backend systems.
• Strong expertise in TypeScript/Node.js or Python, plus working knowledge of modern frameworks (NestJS, FastAPI, etc.).
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimisation) and caching/message queues (Redis, Pub/Sub, or similar).
• Comfort with cloud‑native architectures on AWS (preferred) or GCP—including container orchestration and serverless offerings.
• Solid grasp of automated testing, code quality, and observability (unit/integration tests, logging, tracing, metrics).
• Startup mindset: you ship fast, own outcomes, and thrive on feedback loops with real users.
• Excellent communication skills; able to work async with teammates across time zones (PST & GMT+8 overlap).

Nice‑to‑Have

• Experience with Supabase, Prisma, or Hasura.
• Familiarity with AI/ML workflows (LangChain, Pinecone, Weaviate, or custom LLM fine‑tuning).
• Exposure to automated browser workflows, extensions, or low‑code tools (n8n, Make.com).
• Prior involvement in B2C SaaS or career‑tech products.
